Hotel McCoy is one of the unique boutique hotels in Tucson. I stayed there as part of our cross-country road trip and loved it!
Gorgeous local art adorns the inside, outside, and rooms. They have delicious coffee, wine, beer, and a yummy oatmeal bar! They add in a saltwater pool, bikes for use in town, a great location, and a great price. I think Hotel McCoy is an excellent option among Tucson hotels!
Let’s dive into why I loved it and think you might too!
Why I love Hotel McCoy Tucson
From the moment I saw Hotel McCoy Tucson, I loved the retro and modern vibe. Artwork from local artists is on prominent display before even setting foot inside a building.
Honestly, I’d say that every aspect of the stay was on point. The vibe, artwork, staff friendliness, great amenities (more on this below), comfortable room, and value for money were fantastic!
The staff was welcoming and got us set up in our room quickly. Luckily, our arrival was earlier in the day. So we had time to enjoy the hotel. We cashed in our complimentary drink tokens for a yummy adult beverage and went to the saltwater pool to cool off from the Arizona heat!
Admiring all of the artwork was one of my favorite things to do!
I think Hotel McCoy should be on your list if you’re looking at Tucson boutique hotels. The price puts it a bit higher than a budget hotel Tucson hotel, but not by too much.
For the price and amenities, I find it hard to beat.

The art at Hotel McCoy Tucson
I said I’d mention it again :D. The boutique hotels Tucson has tend to be artsy. Hotel McCoy Tucson didn’t disappoint. The artwork was great!
Outdoor spaces are adorned with murals, paintings, and more. Each room has a particular vibe featuring a local artist. You can even buy their work!
More artwork is on display in the office and breakfast area! Being surrounded by beauty and creativity was wonderful!
The pool & outdoor area
Not all hotels in Tucson have a pool, but Hotel McCoy has a great one! Here’s a view of the area.
The pool itself is saltwater, so no chlorine! There’s a tiki umbrella with a drink table in the middle that’s great for your complimentary and purchased beverages!
The seating area around the pool was nice to relax and enjoy the outdoors. If you’re lucky, a hummingbird might just stop by like it did for me!
Take some time to play ping pong, foosball, or cornhole while you’re out there! Definitely consider Hotel McCoy if you’re looking for Tucson hotels with pools!
Things to do in the area
Hotel McCoy is not among the options for hotels downtown Tucson. However, it was less than a 10-minute drive. Google Maps says it is about 20 minutes by bicycle.
The pretty Santa Cruz River Park and its trails are a 10-minute walk from the hotel. I went for a few runs there and hit the nearby pull-up bars.
For more nature, there’s the nearby Sentinel Peak Park (“A” Mountain).
Then you have easy driving access to everything downtown Tucson has to offer!
Some tasty Tucson food options I have to recommend
I know this is a hotel post, but I can’t hold back on a few food recommendations 😀
First up, check out the on-site Tran’s Fats Food Truck for some dumplings, chicken wings, and fried snacks!
Next, get yourself a Sonoran hot dog! For real, if you eat hot dogs, love condiments, and like happiness, get one…or two or more!
Don’t know what that is? Neither did I! It’s a sometimes bacon-wrapped dog with tons of toppings like pinto beans, onion, tomato, salsa verde, mustard, mayo, and all the hot sauces you want on the side. Ruiz Hot Dogs was our choice. You’ll find a huge variety of places offering them. Go hungry and explore!
A fantastic dinner spot was La Indita. They serve a mix of Native American and Mexican dishes. You’ll find familiar Mexican favorites and others like beef in various chile sauces.
Their guacamole is fantastic with a good amount of lime! The homemade tortillas are also yummy. The back patio was a comfortable place to enjoy the lovely surroundings! Give them a visit if you’re in Tucson.
I’m sure you’ll find many other delicious things near Hotel McCoy Tucson AZ. Tell us about them in the comments!
